Mongioni Falls was established as a tour and activity service to support the work of Urunjari East Organization, a non-profit organization established in 2005. Clement Maro, Managing Director of a professional services firm, founded the non-profit organization with the intention of supporting the local community in North Uru, Tanzania.
The organization offers adventures within the Kilimanjaro area of Tanzania. Offerings range from Kilimanjaro climb warmups to sightseeing tours. Mongioni Falls is the only organization that offers tours to the Mongioni Falls of Kilimanjaro. The four-hour tour is an adventure of a lifetime. Aside from experiencing the "Niagara Roar of Kilimanjaro," adventure seekers have the unforgettable opportunity to explore the treasures the jungle of Kilimanjaro offers.
Earmarked revenue from Mongioni Falls is used to help develop the Urunjari East Organization. The nonprofit organization employees local community members to produce sustainably-made charcoal. The charcoal reduces reliance on fire wood and, thus, helps to address the evergrowing problem of deforestation.
Clement Maro
Clement, pictured on the right side of the photo, founded the Urunjari East Organization. After inheriting a piece of land from his father in his home town of North Uru, Clement embarked on a mission to help preserve the local environment while also empowering the local community.
A breakthrough came when Clement learned about the work of Polish Aid. The international aid organization inspired and equipped Clement to produce charcoal from fallen twigs and leaves in a sustainable manner. While employing over 20 local community members, the organization produces a sustainable source of cooking heat to reduce deforestation,
